VISION OF THE REMINGTON KARATE ACADEMY
Our vision is quite simple, and that is to provide the best instruction possible to our students in the art of Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do. We are also focused on the principle that "Better people are Created in the Dojo". The skills taught to students expand far beyond simple self-defense and fighting methods. At the Gainesville Karate Dojo, we teach "Honor", "Integrity", "Humility" and "Discipline". Our students learn how to utilize their Karate training for good in the community; helping others on a daily basis. The end goal for us is that each student will learn Okinawan history, culture, language, and of course the islands treasure called Karate-Do (Empty-Hand Way). When these elements are realized, the student will find an inner peace not easily found elsewhere.
"REI" THE BOW OF COURTESY AND RESPECT
In the Okinawa/Japan custom, people bow to one another as a show of respect and courtesy. What's more is this simple gesture displays humility; an act of being humble and we believe very strongly in this cultural way of doing things. As you can see in the photo; even the Sensei bows to his student as a show of respect and understanding, also teaching the student humility in all things.
MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT
There are three key elements that each student will develop naturally through their training. The "Mind", they will become thinkers instead of just doer's. The mind becomes very focused through the nature of the training which helps them to become more productive in all areas of life such as family and careers. The "Body", each student will improve their physical skills and abilities through specific training methods. They will become strong which enables them to protect the weak or innocent. Finally, the "Spirit", the inner energy that drives us towards reaching our goals. By developing a students Spirit, that individual will then be able to affect positive change in the lives of others and help them succeed in the things that they do.
Group training is at the heart of Karate-Do and would be considered the most common form of training. Although individual instruction is valuable and available, there is nothing more stimulating than moving across the floor with others who share your passion. The energy levels are quite high when practitioners get together and move through the training process. Your journey is personal and your growth is always measured against "the self"; however, nothing is more exciting than the energy found in group training. The "Kiai", Karate's spirited yell, permeates through the Dojo during training, and brings about an inner power that is quite remarkable and exciting. All classes are custom tailored based on age, rank, and individual needs. There is a class specifically for "you", call now for more information.
